More than a week ago, at National Bookstore, Glorietta V, I attended the book launch of "Paper Cuts" by Pam Pastor. I don't have a copy of the book; I was too lazy to get one (hehe sorry Pam), but thankfully, a friend brought it one day and lent me his copy. Lately, I don't have much time to read (the bookmark to Murakami's Norwegian Wood is still stuck at page 20 for weeks now), but I found Paper Cuts too interesting to ignore. So I would find time during the day to read it. While having my pedi one day, I was able to finish the latter half of the book. It was hilarious; I found myself laughing out loud at the yaya stories. Haha. More than Pam's exciting line of work, what makes the book interesting is her real and candid stories. I like how she finds humor and value in the mundane, everyday things that we normally wouldn't write about.
On a related note, Paper Cuts encouraged me to write/blog more, to be more observant, to write about anything and everything. Blog entries don't have to be long and profound and have a ratiocination at the end. A 5-minute conversation with a cab driver can actually be translated into an entire blog entry. Lately, I've been thinking about how stagnant this blog has become, or how this blog has suffered a sort of identity crisis. I didn't know whether to turn it into a photo/travel/foodie/fashion (?) blog. But now I realized it doesn't have to fall into a particular category - it's just all about me, my life, the people I care about, and all the circumstances, even the seemingly insignificant ones, around me.
Anyhoot, some highlights from the launch:
Mini cupcakes baked by Pam herself :D I loved the red velvet bunch. Some of the Lomo peeps were eating even before they formally opened the buffet table. Haha

Yes, they served beer at the launch. Right inside National Bookstore. Eric was raving about National Bookstore's chicken wings.. Haha
Pam and Jason's speeches. It's funny that Jason and I became Facebook friends after the launch. Hehe. Here's his take on the event (this photo made it to his blog. Thanks Jason for the mention :D )

Free pins:

Seeing my friend Jill (Jill, my batchmate from law school/workmate at the CA/Imagine Nation bride) and her husband Gary waiting to have their book signed. Some of my pics are also in Jill's Kikayexchange forum. Thanks Jill :)

Lomomanila (oldies) reunion! I miss the lomo peeps, seriously. It's funny that whenever we get together, we do everything but shoot in film. I hope we can revive our love for film. (Photo by Jill Lejano, a lomo oldie as well hehe)
